Art Nouveau vase designed Alf. Wallander by Rørstrand.
Rörstrand was established in 1726 and became the first Swedish ceramic factory. When Alf Wallander was appointed artistic director in the beginning of the 1900's, Rörstrand began to produce their own original and innovative ceramic objects. Wallander was primarily responsible for the introduction of the Art Nouveau style and designed vases with stylized motifs of flowers and leaves and abstract female figures. Wallander also designed vases in a light relief inspired by Japanese ceramics. His works were awarded the grand prix price at the Paris exhibition in 1900.
